You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old.

Hello Future Julia,

This blog, yes, could very well go to blog-waste-land. BUT, IF it doesn't, you should read this and believe it.

I don't care how tempted you are. Do not grow up. No, no, no. Growing isn't cool. Got it? Good.

Don't you dare bring up those finances, I don't want to hear it.

No, I don't care that you have a huge test for your Medical class this Friday.

Yeah, you have work tomorrow. That's cool.

You're going to be as young, happy, free, passionate, crazy and ambitious as I am. Right now. Today. No matter how old you are. I don't want you -- a beautiful spirit full of dreams -- to be crushed down by society and turned into the typical "I'm too old for that, I have money to worry about" zombie.

Take off your shoes, take your hair out of that freaking tight bun and do something childish. Being childish every now-and-then is what keeps that freedom inside you alive. No matter what your responsibilities are.

I love you lots,
Best regards,
Your 15-Year-Old Self.

  1. Julia, I don't see your older self like that. I can see your older self in a play or something, enjoying pretending to be like that, but the stage is always there. I can't get rid of the stage and make it real, for some reason. I see you off in the freaking middle of nowhere, getting payed for having the time of your life because you are doing what you always did in your dreams, and it's even better than you imagined.

Older Julia, if you are living your dreams: good job. if not: You fail. Go live your dreams. You know you want to, and we all know it's never too late, so don't give me that excuse.

P.S. If Alex is (disregard this next part if she is a stay-at-home mom.) being lame and not becoming or working as a surgeon, please go smack her, verbally or literally or both, and tell her to get her butt to a college or hospital.

    ~15-year-old-Alex
