Gentleness: A Woman's Greatest Blessing

We all know the song Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars. If you haven't heard it, please look it up so this post will make sense to you. :)

Though it is an excellent song, it doesn't speak to me like...Like Jon Schmidt does (yes, yes. Another post on Jon Schmidt. I apologize).

Please watch this.

This touches my heart more than the original song. It speaks to me in ways the version with actual words never could. Why? Because it's gentle. Jon captured the thing Bruno was trying to capture without uttering a word...

The song is about a girl. A beautiful, lovely, virtuous, humble one. "When you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while. Because girl, you're amazing. Just the way you are.", sings the song. Yet, the sound of the original song is like that of anything else you'd hear on the radio. Jon performs this differently...With uniqueness...Because the song is about a unique person.

The gentleness of Jon's playing; the way he delicately touches each black and white key, as if it will shatter under his finger; the words behind this beautiful song that I whisper along to the piano... It all inspires me to be gentle.

To hold my head a little higher.
To sit up a little straighter.
To smile a little brighter.
To love a little bigger.

I'm so grateful to be a woman, and to have the opportunity to eventually experience the diving roles of being a  wife and mother. I'm grateful to be the big sister of four little siblings, and to lead the way for them throughout their lives; each of them has incredible potential. I can only hope to become the person that when she smiles, people stop and stare at her. Not because she's drop-dead gorgeous with perfect teeth and hair and eyes and makeup, but because she's a light to the world.

Every woman has a feminine grace about her - a poise that can not be duplicated...And Jon Schmidt just took a piece of it and put it onto piano keys.
