Check this dude out.
You're looking at the Blue-Ringed Octopus, native to the Pacific and Indian oceans. This species is recognized as one of the most venomous marine animals on the planet, despite its small size and relatively docile nature. But the coolest thing about it? It GLOWS. When agitated, the octopus' iridescent blue rings appear and pulsate within the maculae.
Now, I'm going to be honest, I had no idea these guys existed. Just think of all the other things of this vast and beautiful world I'm completely oblivious to and yet to discover! There is so much out there! When you look at the world from that perspective, adventure doesn't even seem like an option anymore; why wouldn't you strive to know of as many of the mysteries of our globe as you can?
Another humbling thought provoked by this fascinating creature is just mysterious and powerful and loving and wonderful our Father in Heaven is. I mean, LOOK at the picture. It's beautiful. Nature is beautiful. Creatures are beautiful. People are beautiful. Life is beautiful. So much more so than any man could try to duplicate.
I hope you enjoyed my dose of daily inspiration, all at the (eight) hands of an octopus.
With love,
Julia
