Because I really don't want to write this study guide

Someday I'm going to look back on this moment and be grateful.

This moment when I'm sitting here, at my food and paper-laden desk, with my hair in a bun and my fists clenched, wishing school would just end. Because I'm tired. Mentally and physically. I work hard, I miss my family, and all I want to do is watch Shrek with Dad or take Sam to the park (it's such a lovely day). This moment when I'm sick and tired and fed up with doing the exact same thing every single day. When I'm craving an adventure so fiercely I'm seriously debating just leaving, with no permission, no driver's license and no money. YOLO, much? Eh. I'd make it work.

But instead of Shrek and the park and walking to Alaska to see the northern lights, I'll sit here, in my office, writing this study guide. But it's okay. You know why?

Because someday I'll be an adventurer. A mom. A mentor. Someday I will see the northern lights. Someday I'll see the stars again. Someday all my dreams will come true and I will be the happiest woman that ever lived. Someday I'll see every country on my bucket list. I'll hear every language, I'll climb every mountain and I'll see every sea. Someday my life will be colorful like the great barrier. I'll swim with sharks, fly with eagles and connect with every living thing in between. Someday I'll hold the hands of people of every race, culture, and religion and see for the first that every soul that was ever born, deep down, is free.

And when all that (and more) happens, I'm going to be grateful for the girl who sat at her food and paper-laden desk with messy hair and clenched fists.

So why not be grateful for her now?

I'm gonna go write a study guide now.

  2. Julia, you really do inspire me. You always find a way to add meaning to your life and I love it. Hey, and while you're walkin' to Alaska, don't forget to kidnap me. ;)
